2024 Question and Answer With Camp Blood

Home » Blog » Atlanta Haunts: An In Depth Look

GeorgiaHauntedHouses.com recently sat down with Atch & Michelle of Camp Blood, to discuss what's new at Camp Blood for the 2024 Halloween Season!

What's new at Camp Blood for 2024? Do you have any new rides, attractions, or special features that Haunt Seekers should know about?

Camp Blood is in it's 34th year of screams with our special way of combining humor and horror. Our haunted hillbillies & dead rednecks will surely get your blood pumping while you navigate your way through the dark and creepy woods of Camp Blood. Be sure and bring your hiking shoes because it's nearly a 1/2 mile walk through the first place you enter which we call "The Barn" which leads out into the Camp Blood Trail where the undead are ready to have YOU for dinner!

What are you most excited about for the 2024 Halloween Season?

Seeing all of our repeat guests coming out to see what has changed from the previous seasons. Our loyal customers sometimes come back with missing limbs that they lost to the haunted hillbillies & dead rednecks from other visits but.............. BTW, we ALSO love our new customers because they may be just as tasty as our repeat guests since they don't know what to run from, LOL!

What differentiates Camp Blood from other local haunts in Georgia?

We are a small haunt that has been in operation for 34 years and we are the longest continually running haunt in the state so............ we must be doing something right. Our combination of humor and horror makes for a great way to get you off guard and then GOTCHA!

How long has Camp Blood been in business? Can you tell us a bit more about Camp Blood's history?

Camp Blood has been running for 34 years and got it's origin from having a Halloween party and making our guests walk through the woods to get to it. After 3 years the parties were over since 141 guests flooded my cabin in the woods.

What's your favorite experience since opening Camp Blood?

Hearing the screams emanating from the woods. Also listening to some of the folks around the area tell me that they love sitting on their porch and hearing the screams from almost a mile away.

How long is a typical haunt experience at Camp Blood from start to finish?

It depends on how fast you run, LOL. Normally the average time from when you leave the compound till you exit the haunt is around 25-30 minutes.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how scary would you say Camp Blood is? Why?

THAT depends on what scares you!!!

Does Camp Blood's property have any real haunted history? Do you have a spooky encounter you'd like to share?

Yes! We tore down a house that was haunted to use the lumber to build sets at Camp Blood. The ghost of Miss Mary happen to come right along with it. When we were tearing the house down we heard all kinds of commotion going on inside the home but we never saw anything. We started one night doing the demolition and it started that evening. Since we only had a lantern to do the work we decided that nighttime was NOT the time to do this so we came back the next day. Didn't help. Still had some serious activity in the kitchen while we were up in the bedrooms. Miss Mary came to Camp with us and hung around for several years.

What inspired you to open up a haunted attraction? What's your favorite part of the business?

I've always enjoyed Halloween and scaring folks, so when we couldn't do the parties anymore, we just did the haunt. My favorite part of the business is hearing the screams from the customers and see them come running out of the haunt.

How has new technology (i.e. animatronics, special props, etc) helped you to enhance Camp Blood?

We stick mostly with live actors.

Can Camp Blood accommodate large groups? How many people can experience Camp Blood together as a group?

Yes. We can send a group of 20 down at a time to the haunt but only allow a group of 8 or less to enter the haunt together.
